AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Police arrested a Lincoln University man after two altercations at his home on Sept. 8 and 9. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 48, who lives at 1023 Oxford Rd., Lincoln University, got into an argument with a 29-year-old man at his home on Sept. 8. According to police, Kennedy pulled a knife and chased the man outside, then grabbed a homemade spiked baseball bat and chased the victim, threatening to kill him. Another person intervened and the victim was able to escape.

On Sept. 9, police were called again, saying that Kelly was threatening family members. He also said that police would be shot if they came to the home. Troopers arrived, set up a perimeter, and took Kelly into custody after negotiating his surrender. Nearby roads were closed during the incident.

A search of the home turned up several firearms and edged weapons, including sawed-off long guns and spiked clubs. Kelly was taken to the Avondale barracks. Charges are being filed in District Court.

CAR BREAK-INS

Kennett Square police are investigating several thefts from cars that were broken into overnight on Aug. 31 at a business in the 100 block of South Walnut Street.

BURGLARY

A home at 1305 Limestone Rd., Upper Oxford Township, was burglarized on Sept. 10 at about 1:30 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale said someone broke into the home and stole numerous pieces of jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

ASSAULT

Anthony Ciabattoni, 33, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on Sept. 8 at 2:30 p.m. after a domestic dispute at a home on Blue Hen Court in London Britain Township. Police reported that, during the altercation, he kicked his father-in-law in the head, threw his wife to the ground and punched his brother-in-law in the face. He was charged with simple assault.

CVS ROBBED

The CVS Pharmacy on East Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township was held up on Sept. 10 at about 2:03 a.m. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale said that a black man wearing a purple Baltimore Ravens sweatshirt, black jacket and black pants was armed with a shotgun when he came to the front counter of the store, gave the employee a brown paper bag and demanded money. He was given a bag containing about $182.50 and he fled. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

IPHONE STOLEN

Sometime between 8:15 and 9:20 a.m. on Aug. 27, an iPhone was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 400 block of Meredith Street in Kennett Square. Police are investigating. 
DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

Timothy Seth Daddario, 22, of Cochranville, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after Pennsylvania State Police Avondale responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash on Route 41 in London Grove Township on Sept. 9 at 10:04 p.m.

DUI

Kennett Square police arrested Roderick Mackenzie, 33, of Kennett Square, for DUI after a traffic stop on Sept. 1 in the 800 block of South Walnut Street. He was released at his home pending a summons from District Court.

Kennett Square police arrested Gilberto Jimenez-Ibarra, 24, of Avondale, for DUI and providing false ID after a traffic stop on Sept. 1 in the 400 block of East South Street. He was released at his home pending a summons from District Court.

Joseph Allen Gift, 49, of Kennett Square, was arrested for DUI by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale after he parked his car in the eastbound lane of Strickersville Road on Sept. 8 at 3:56 p.m.
