Area health and welfare organizations awarded $100,000 in annual grants
09/04/2013 12:51PM ● By AclThe Health and Welfare Foundation of Southern Chester County awarded $100,000 to 14 local organizations in its ninth round of annual grants to support the health and welfare of residents in southern Chester County.
Recipient programs were chosen after submitting proposals that addressed at least one of the priority areas established by the foundation for this year: prenatal; dental; mental health diagnosis or treatment; access to pharmaceutical affordability; facilitation of two or more of the four priorities.
The recipients of the grants are:
Adult Care of Chester County -- $5,000
The Arc of Chester County -- $5,000
Chester County Community Dental -- $5,000
Chester County Health Department Nurse Family Partnership -- $5,000
Community Volunteers in Medicine -- $15,000
Crime Victims Center of Chester County -- $5,000
Domestic Violence Center of Chester County -- $5,000
Family Service of Chester County -- $5,000
Human Services, Inc. Community Mental Health -- $5,000
Kennett Area Senior Center -- $5,000
La Comunidad Hispana -- $15,000
Maternal & Child Health Consortium -- $5,000
Oxford Area Neighborhood Services Center -- $15,000
Tick Tock Early Learning Center -- $5,000.
Since 2005, the board of directors established funding priorities, initiated a request for proposal process, and has distributed more than $1.6 million to organizations meeting the health and welfare needs of southern Chester County residents.
