Art and ice cream will be an unbeatable combination this weekend when the Oxford Arts Alliance and Dansko team up for a community event.

On Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Dansko Headquarters in West Grove will be the site of the Art and Ice Cream Social in support of the Oxford Arts Alliance Sculpture Trail. There will be local art from the Dansko collection on view, and the artists will meet visitors during the event, which will offer free ice cream for everyone. Guest artists will be Steven Hastings, Larry Denver and Matt Harris.

"Our goal is to raise awareness around the vibrant art community in our area and provide an opportunity for local artists to meet and interact with the public in a completely relaxed environment," said Dansko co-founder and event host Peter Kjellerup.

On display will be selected works from Dansko's private art collection, including "Arc Angel," the Stan Smokler installation in the company's lobby, as well as other rarely seen pieces contributed by local artists.

"The inventiveness, humor, boldness, and unpredictability of the works being shown here and throughout the region is world class," Kjellerup said.

The event will be held in the lobby of the company's LEED Gold Certified headquarters building at 33 Federal Road in West Grove. The celebration continues next door at the Dansko Company Store, where there will be an anniversary sale in progress. The sale will be running from Aug. 10 to 17. A 20 percent discount coupon will be given to all shoppers.

Earlier this year, Dansko and the Arts Alliance partnered with local organizations on the installation of the area's first Sculptural Trail, a 14-mile tour of Southern Chester County as told through 11 sculptural works, including three on Dansko campuses. The trail opened on April 1 and continues through Sept. 3.

Artists who are represented with outdoor works on the Sculpture Trail are Zane Campbell, Maggie Creshkoff, Larry Denver, Lindsay Grigsby, Matthew Harris, Steven Hastings, Kevin Lehman, Erica Loustau, Henry Loustau, Dean Sappia, Amedeo Salmoni, Carrie Mae Smith and Stan Smokler.
