On Saturday, Aug, 24, Zimbabwe Gallery owner Colin Thompson will open his Oxford home to showcase and sell a wide variety of Shona Sculpture, made from Zimbabwean sculptors and chosen by Thompson to be transported to his gallery.
There will be large outdoor and indoor sculptures for sale, as well as food and refreshments.
Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Thompson arrived in the U.S. in 1969 to attend Lincoln University. After returning to Africa, for the next two decades, Thompson immigrated to the U.S. And began to showcase the careers of aspiring stone carvers from his native country. For the past 23 years, Thompson's gallery has been one of the leading suppliers of Shona Sculpture in the United States, with clients ranging from former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young to singer Patti La Belle.
The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at 205 Delaware Ave., in Oxford. For more information about the show, contact Thompson at 484-459-6625.
