FIREARM POSSESSION

On July 21 at midnight, while investigating a curfew violation in the 400 block of East South Street, Kennett Square police found a 17-year-old boy with a handgun. The juvenile, a resident of Kennett Square, was committed to the Chester County Juvenile Detention Center. Also during the investigation, another 17-year-old boy from Avondale gave police a false name. He was referred to juvenile probation.

THEFT FROM CAR

Sometime between 4:30 and 6:50 p.m. on July 13, a vehicle parked in the 600 block of South Walnut Street was broken into, and a purse containing books, headphones, a notebook, markers and crayons was taken, according to Kennett Square police.

PLANTS STOLEN

Several plants were stolen from the planters along East and West State Street in Kennett Square sometime between July 4 and 5, according to Kennett Square police.

SCOOTER STOLEN

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale say that a red and black Jazzy scooter was stolen from its 78-year-old owner on July 28 between 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Hillendale Road between Rosedale Road and Greenwood Road in Kennett Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A home in the 400 block of Meredith Street in Kennett Square was the target of would-be burglars on July 10 sometime between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m., according to a report from Kennett Square police. The burglars did not get inside the home.

BURGLARIES

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are investigating a burglary at a home at 525 E. Avondale Road in West Grove. Police say that between 1 and 8 a.m. on July 26, three Trek bicycles, a Simpson power washer, a chainsaw and a weed trimmer were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

A shed behind a home in the 10 block of Newton Circle in West Grove was burlarized between July 21 and 26, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

Several pieces of jewelry were taken from a home in the 300 block of Hoods Lane in West Grove between July 17 and 20, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

Several pieces of lawn equipment were stolen from a shed at a home at 305 Freese Road in Oxford between July 24 and 27, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

ATV STOLEN

A 2012 Kawasaki ATV was stolen from a home at 275 W. Street Road in West Grove between 11 a.m. on July 26 and 3 p.m. on July 27, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The ATV was valued at $5,000. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

GPS UNIT STOLEN

On July 15, Kennett Square police were advised that a GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the 100 block of Apple Alley in Kennett Square. The theft occurred on July 12 between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

GUN CLUB THEFT

Sometime between July 25 and 27, someone stole a Promatic clay pigeon trap and the trailer it was on from the Oxford Gun Club, at 880 Chrome Rd. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale said the total value was $3,395. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

DUI

Alexandra Stoddard, 28, of Chadds Ford, was arrested for DUI after she was stopped by Pennsylvania State Police Avonfdale for several traffic and equipment violations at routes 1 and 52 in Kennett Township on July 28 at 1:30 a.m.

Reginald Wallace Meadows, 23, of Gap, Pa., was arrested for DUI on July 21 after first being reported as an erratic driver. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale found Meadows in a parking lot on Route 896 north of State Road as he was trying to repair his vehicle after striking an unknown object. He was found to be DUI and arrested.

Kennett Square police arrested Gilberto Jimenez-Ibarra, 24, of Avondale, for DUI after a traffic stop at West State Street and Cedar Spring Road on July 18 at 10:45 p.m. He was released at his residence pending a summons from District Court.
