Oxford United Methodist Church has received a $3,600 grant from the Clyde P. and Katherine B. Alexander Memorial Fund of the Philadelphia Foundation to support its programs.

Announcement of the grant was made by R. Andrew Swinney, president of the foundation, whose board of managers approved the grant on June 3, 2013.

Rev. Mark Terry, senior pastor of the Oxford United Methodist Church, said the funds would be used to support the programs and missions of the church. The church is finalizing its plans for the season, including a youth work trip to a local summer camp, a free ice cream social for neighbors in mid-July, and Vacation Bible School July 28 through Aug. 1.

“It’s a real blessing to receive this gift from the Alexander Fund, to help us strengthen our outreach into the community,” said Rev. Terry.

Oxford United Methodist Church was founded in 1851.

Since 1918, The Philadelphia Foundation has been committed to improving the quality of life in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. It links those with financial resources to those who serve societal needs. The foundation grows the more than 800 charitable funds established by its donors and distributes about $20 million annually in grants and scholarships to about 1,000 nonprofit organizations.
