KMC's Trinter wins nationals

Devin Trinter won first place in the all-around at Junior Olympic National

Devin Trinter, from the KMC boys gymnastics team, won first place in the all-around in the Junior Olympic National gymnastics competition in Portland, Ore., from April 30 to May 5. Trinter competed in the level 8 12-year-old division. He also won first place on parallel bars and third place on floor. He competed against 64 gymnasts from across the country.  

Matthew Bunke placed seventh on pommel horse in the level 10 15-year-old division. Both Devin and Matthew qualified for the Junior Olympic National Gymnastics Championship in the regional optional championships.  

Boys from levels 7-10 of the KMC boys gymnastics team competed in the regional optional championship on April 6-7 in Allentown, Pa. Three hundred and twenty gymnasts from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia competed in the regional championship.

Here’s a look at how the KMC boys did at regionals:

Level 10 

In the 15-year-old age group, Matt Bunke won third on pommel horse. Matthew also placed ninth in all-around and tenth on rings and high bar. Brendan McBride placed fifth on pommel horse.

Level 8 

In the 12-year-old age group, Devin Trinter won first place on parallel bars and second place on high bar. Devin also placed third in all-around and on pommel horse.

Level 7 

For the 11- and 12-year- old age group, Collin Cunane won second in all-around and took home first on high bar. Collin also placed third on parallel bars, fourth on vault, and sixth on pommel horse. Kieran Murdocca earned third in all-around, second on floor, fourth on parallel bars, fifth on high bar, and sixth on pommel horse.  

KMC Gymnastics is located at 912 W Cypress St in Kennett Square.  The gym is run and owned by Karen Myers. The boys train with Victor Kolesnikov, Brian Narvaez and Dave Hirst.
