Mike Donovan, a member of the Friends of New Garden grass roots coalition of citizens fighting to block the development of the planned White Clay Point on Gap-Newport Pike, narrowly defeated challenger Richard Zimny in the Democratic primary for a seat on the New Garden Township Board of Supervisors. The primary election was held May 21.

Republican Richard R. Ayotte, Democrat Mike Donovan and Democrat Richard M. Zimny are campaigning for two seats on the Board that will be vacated by outgoing Supervisors Bob Norris and Bob Perrotti, whose terms will both end on Jan. 1, 2014. Both Norris and Perrotti have declared that they will not be running for re-election to the Board.

Barring a write in variable that would make a another scenario possible, Ayotte and Donovan and Zimny will fill the two available slots in a general election to be decided on Nov. 5.
