Seven year itch

It takes a lot of gall for lawmakers to break other people's laws.

That's just what's happening in East Marlborough Township. For more than seven years, East Marlborough has been breaking the law that requires curbside recycling that was mandated by Act 101. Furthermore, East Marlborough supervisors permitted residents to drop yard waste behind the Township Building, without a container -- another violation.

Big landowners like supervisors Cuyler Walker and Rich Hannum should be publicly embarrassed at this environmental violation, while they contribute money to encourage open space to various preservation groups.

Neighboring townships like Kennett, London Grove and Pocopson have mandated curbside recycling for years, while East Marlborough supervisors have turned up their noses.

Shame on them for not setting a better example.
