9th Annual Jonathan Beech Memorial Concert to Benefit Make-A-Wish

The Ninth Annual Jonathan Beech Memorial Concert will take place on Saturday, March 19, at 2:00 PM in the Kennett High School Auditorium at 100 E South St, Kennett Square, PA 19348. Make-A-Wish of Philadelphia, Northern Delaware, and Susquehanna Valley is the beneficiary of this concert. The Concert is hoping to raise $10,000 for Make-A-Wish, as it has for other organizations in past years. This year’s featured work is John Rutter’s exuberant “Gloria” for chorus, brass, percussion, and organ. The large community chorus, which includes singers from various church, community, and school choirs in the area, will be accompanied by a professional ensemble, most of whom are members of the Kennett Symphony or Delaware Symphony. In addition to the “Gloria”, the concert will also include a short anthem of Renaissance composer Giovanni Gabrieli, two short works of John Rutter, and the concluding “Hallelujah Chorus” of George F. Handel. Grafton Piano and Organ will be donating the use of an Allen organ for the concert. The first segment of the concert will include performances by the Kennett Middle School Treble Chorus conducted by Patricia Mancuso, and the Chamber Ensemble of the Chester County Choral Society under the direction of Gary Garletts. Since its beginning in 2008, the Jonathan Beech Memorial Concerts have donated over $80,000 to organizations that assist children dealing with cancer and their families. Money raised from the 2016 concert will be given to Make-A-Wish of Philadelphia, Susquehanna Valley, and Northern Delaware. Jonathan Beech Memorial Concert, Inc. is a public charity and has a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Contributions are deductible under Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
