Sweet Sweet Music

An Evening of Fabulous Entertainment and Sweet Indulgence in a Landmark Venue to Benefit Chester Springs Library @ Historic Yellow Springs Gelato and jazz anyone? How about cupcakes with classical guitar? Cookies and classic rock? If fantastic entertainment and sinfully delicious sweets sound like music to your ears, then mark your calendar as the Friends of Chester Springs Library present Sweet, Sweet Music – a lyrical evening of marvelous music and decadent desserts in a unique setting. Back by popular demand, the perennial sellout highlights some of the area’s finest musicians and vocalists along with a dessert buffet featuring outrageous signature sweets from local restaurants and bakeries. And the cherry on top? The entire evening is presented in a local landmark venue. This year’s big event will be held at the Vincent Community Center, known to many area residents as the old Vincent Baptist Church, in Chester Springs. The historic building, restored and renovated to host parties and special gatherings, will be creatively transformed by the Friends to provide a fantastic backdrop for the evening’s festivities. “What could be better than great music and great desserts shared with great friends?” says Friends president and event organizer Noreen Vigilante. “The program includes everything from classical to folk to rock, so there’s truly something for everyone. Combine that with a truly over-the-top dessert buffet in an amazing setting and you have a very special evening.” While tax dollars and grants cover a significant percentage of the library’s annual operating costs, outside funding in the form of fundraising and generous gifts from the community are still needed to bridge a 20% budget gap. Proceeds from Sweet, Sweet Music directly benefit Chester Springs Library @ Historic Yellow Springs. “Just as the Chester Springs Library is a true community treasure, Sweet, Sweet Music is a true community effort. We thank all of our sponsors, contributors and guests for their ongoing support. Thanks to generous community support, past Friends events have helped maintain the library with capital investments and have sponsored classes and events including the popular children’s summer reading series,” adds Rosie Nicholas, a Friends member and long-time advocate for the library. “Sweet, Sweet Music hits all the right notes!”
