Thresholds of Chester County Seeks Volunteers
Teach Decision Making at Chester County Prison
Thresholds of Chester County is a nonprofit organization that teaches decision making tactics to male and female inmates at the Chester County Prison. The fall training session will be held Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester.
Thresholds volunteers learn a logical new way to make decisions. The challenge of teaching in prison can be a very rewarding experience. Furthermore, the flexibility of our program can fit your busy schedule.
Thresholds does not require any special education or previous teaching experience. We are simply looking for caring individuals willing to devote an hour of their time each week for a period of 8 weeks over any (or all) of the three teaching cycles run per year. Teaching times are available during the day, evenings and weekends. New volunteers are required to attend a volunteer training session, at which they will be thoroughly trained to teach Thresholds’ six-step decision making model model and given teaching materials. Seasonal training sessions are held throughout the year.
Those interested in volunteering should contact [email protected]. The cost to attend training is $35, or $15 for retirees and students.
