Octorara Agriculture, Business, Environmental Science and Technology Expo

FUN FOR ALL! The Chester and Lancaster County communities have always been tied deeply to the roots of agriculture. In an effort to increase awareness of thriving local agriculture and the larger agriculture industry, the Octorara Area School District is partnering with local businesses to showcase the highlights of our community at the third annual Octorara Agriculture, Business, Environmental Science and Technology Expo (OABEST). The expo will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Local farmers, agricultural leaders, politicians, and businesses will gather to demystify farming procedures and the agriculture industry. There will be food, activities and exhibits for the young and old alike. The expo will include demonstrations by students from Octorara's Agriculture Programs, Homeland Security and Protective Services Program, Culinary Arts Program, and many other Octorara Career and Technical Education Programs, as well as the Science, Music, and Art Departments. Local fire companies, Pennsylvania State Police, and other emergency services will be present with safety demonstrations. Younger children will enjoy riding on the Bumble Bee Train, Children's Tractor Driving, a Petting Zoo, and MUCH, MUCH MORE! The Delaware-Chester County Farm Bureau, Chester County Bee Council, Chester County 4-H, American Mushroom Institute, local colleges and universities, and many other organizations and vendors will be represented. The Mobile Ag Classroom, an educational agriculture science interactive lab, as well as the Pennsylvania WoodMobile, a traveling exhibit that provides information on our state forest resources and industry, will also be present to provide a fun educational experience for all.
