The Newark Symphony presents “Sturm and Delight,” in its third symphony concert of the season, with James Allen Anderson, Guest Conductor at the podium, on March 8, 2015, at The Independence School at 3:00 p.m.. Musical selections include Death and Transfiguration, by Richard Strauss, Violin Concerto, Op. 14 by Samuel Barber, featuring Carolyn Semes, violin. Ms. Semes is the High School Division winner of the Youth Concerto Competition. Concluding the concert is Symphony No. 8, by Ludwig van Beethoven. Because the NSO is celebrating “March is Music in Schools” month, free admission is offered to music teachers presenting a DMEA/MENC card.
