The Mohican Base Ball Club of Kennett Square are looking to recruit players, umpires, volunteers and fans for the upcoming 2015 season. The club plays April through Septemeber on a weekend only schedule home and away. Home matches are held on the corner of Newark road and Upland road in Unionville. The Mohicans play vintage base ball (in the 1860s baseball was two words) against other vintage base ball clubs from across the mid-atlantic region. Vintage base ball is like modern baseball but with a different twist. We replicate how the game was played in the mid 1800s by following the rules and customs of the time. We use replica equipment such as old time uniforms, wooden bats and play by one important rule. No gloves. Yes barehanded base ball. The Mohicans are looking to recruit members on a full or part time basis. Membership forms will be provided at the meeting.
