Description:

The Madness of March

Mayhem, obsession, cheering, excitement, drama, madness, passion – March Madness Basketball? Think again. This is March Madness...ballet style.

Mid-Atlantic Ballet presents Coppelia, the story of a mad inventor who makes a life-size dancing doll who steals the heart of a local young man, Franz. Franz's betrothed becomes jealous and sets out to set things straight. She discovers that the girl is a doll and that's when the fun really begins.

Without giving the story away, the story of Coppelia has all the emotions that go with March Madness. And it has something for everyone in the family - comedy, a love story, dancing ballerinas, toys that come alive, hijinx, and celebration.

MAB is pleased to have two guest artists join the cast. Jaylen Clay, who will be performing the role of Franz, is a choreographer, dancer, artist and native of Atlanta, Georgia. He has been dancing since the age of three. Since then, Jaylen has been training in several genres of dance including: hip hop, salsa, modern, jazz, ballet, Latin, tap and contemporary dance. He attends The University of the Arts where he majors in dance. Our other guest artist, Aaron Bellotafatto, who will be performing the role of Milorad, began dancing jazz and tap at the age of 7. He has studied at Governor's School for the Arts in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the School of Nashville Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre. Currently he studies at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and will graduate in 2016.

Accept the invitation to this dance. This enchanting ballet will be performed by Mid-Atlantic Ballet on Saturday, March 29. Performances will be held at Mitchell Hall at the University of Delaware in Newark at 12:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors (65+) and students (with ID) and $15 for children (under 12). Special matinee pricing is available for children (under 12) attending the 12:30 PM matinee. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, February 15 and may be purchased on the Mid-Atlantic Ballet web site (www.midatlanticballet.org), at the Mid-Atlantic Ballet Studio or by calling 302-266-6362.
