Conservation on Tap: Keep Calm and Carrion @ Brandywine Zoo

The Brandywine Zoo is offering an evening of brews and vulture talks on Thursday, September 24, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Enjoy this socially distanced happy hour and learn about our most endangered bird- vultures. Bellefonte Brewing Co. and Dogfish Head will serve beer. Kona Ice for kids, vulture facts and conservation efforts will be discussed. Zoo educators will be stationed throughout the zoo offering “lightening talks” to share interesting facts about the world’s most endangered bird. This will be a socially distanced happy hour with several informal conversation stations throughout the zoo to highlight vulture facts and conservation efforts underway by the Brandywine Zoo’s conservation partners. This event is geared to adults but kids are welcome. Tickets should be purchased online in advance. A portion of the event proceeds will directly support the Brandywine Zoo’s conservation projects. Overheard at the Conservation Tap: In different parts of the world and depending on the species, vultures may also be called buzzards or condors. A group of vultures is called a kettle, committee or wake. The term kettle refers to vultures in flight, while committee refers to vultures resting on the ground or in trees.
