Gypsy Saloon Fundraiser For Australian Wildlife Affected By Wildfires

Gypsy Saloon In Conshohocken To Launch Charitable Initiative To Support The Wildlife Affected By The Australian Wild Fires

Gypsy Saloon in Conshohocken has announced a new charitable initiative to raise money and support for the wildlife affected by the tragic Australian Wild Fires. The acclaimed eatery will host the “Looking Away Won’t Make It Go Away” fundraising event Sunday, January 26 from 3 PM to 7 PM featuring live music, appetizers, drink specials, a silent auction, and much more with all net proceeds benefitting Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organization – Wires Wildlife Rescue Organisation.

Tickets to the event are $25 and will include a “kangaroo pouch” loaded with goodies as a special gift for donating. Checks are also be accepted for those unable to attend the fundraiser and can be mailed directly to the restaurant at 128 Ford Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428. Gypsy Saloon Owner and Event Organizers Kim Strengari, Marianne Gere and Michael Golden say that they organized the event because they “couldn’t just sit back and do nothing” any longer.

“We kept hearing from others that they want to help but aren’t sure how,” Strengari said. “So, we decided to contact friends that I have working directly with the Australian wildlife crisis and asked how we can best support their efforts. Wires Wildlife Rescue Organisation was suggested to me on multiple occasions and thought a fundraiser at our home at Gypsy was the perfect way to help.”

As part of the “Looking Away Won’t Make It Go Away” initiative, Gypsy Saloon is also hosting a children’s art show featuring work from local kids. Children are asked to drop their drawings or paintings off at the restaurant prior to the event. To date, millions of animals are dying from the Australian wildfires and, according to Federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley, nearly a third koalas have died and about a third of their habitat has been destroyed.
