TS ALLIANCE OF EASTERN PA/DELAWARE WALK

PUTTING THEIR BEST FOOT FORWARD TO HELP FIND A CURE FOR TUBEROUS SCLEROSIS COMPEX

East Goshen Township — On June 1, 2019 local volunteers and supporters will be gathering to join a community walk called Step Forward to Cure TSC. This annual walk, one of 30 to take place across the US, has just been moved to the West Chester area after 15 years in Reading. This year’s event takes place at EAST GOSHEN PARK rain or shine, with registration beginning at 11:00 AM and the walk at 12:00 PM. All proceeds benefit the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (TS Alliance), which is celebrating its 45th anniversary throughout 2019. Step Forward to Cure TSC was created to raise awareness of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), a devastating genetic disorder, while generating the funds critical to identifying effective treatments and an eventual cure. Immediately following the walk, participants will be treated food & beverages all donated from local businesses while listening to live music and taking chances on many great raffle items from the Flyers, Dorney Park and QVC just to name a few. The kids get special treatment on this day, with several entertainers on tap, give a-ways and face painting as they explore a local fire truck close up. Registration is open to anyone interested in joining us! TSC is estimated to affect nearly 50,000 people in the U.S. and more than one million worldwide. Every 20 minutes a child is born with TSC. Although it can be transmitted through genetic inheritance, about two-thirds of TSC cases are believed to be a spontaneous mutation. TSC is a multi-system disorder, due to the growth of tumors in vital organs, such as the brain, heart, kidney, lungs and skin. People with TSC commonly have epilepsy, behavioral disorders (such as attention deficit disorder-ADD), skin disorders (such as lesions) and other symptoms. TSC is also the leading genetic cause of both autism and epilepsy. Since 1974, the TS Alliance has been the leading source of information and resources to help individuals and families optimize care for those affected by tuberous sclerosis complex. Anyone seeking further information about the TS Alliance or TSC can go online at www.tsalliance.org or contact the organization at (800) 225-6872 or [email protected].
