Museum Explorers: Creative Characters with Gene Barretta

Interactive gallery tour and art activities at the Brandywine River Museum of Art for children and their grown-ups featuring award-winning children’s book illustrators.

Become a Museum Explorer at the Brandywine River Museum of Art! Join us for an interactive gallery tour with art activities for children ages two to eight and their grown-ups. Inspired by the exhibition, N. C. Wyeth: New Perspectives, this program will feature award-winning children’s book illustrators each week. From pirates to pigs, seek out traditional and unusual portrait subjects and assemble an original 3-D character worthy of a storybook during “Museum Explorers: Creative Characters.” Gene Barretta is an author, illustrator and animator whose books for young readers include biographies of Muhammed Ali, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. This program is part of The Art of Stories presented by PNC Arts Alive—a multidisciplinary celebration of the narrative arts and the ways in which stories are crafted, saved and shared including discussions, performances and opportunities for artistic self-expression.
