Apple Butter Festival

sharing our colonial era Scots Irish heritage

Apple butter made the old-fashioned way! We start the fires well before dawn, slow cooking our apples all day to bring out their natural sweetness. Take a turn stirring the huge copper kettles!

See demonstrations of blacksmithing, tinsmithing, candle dipping, calligraphy, timberframing, pottery and more. These are by working artisans plying their trades. Many will have their handcrafted items available for sale. Bagpipes and traditional Scottish and Irish music can be heard throughout the day.

Enjoy traditional Scottish foods and local cider. Local honey, lemon butter and artisan cheeses will also be for sale. Be sure to get to the bake table early though - they always sell out!

Held annually at The Bee Hive since 1976. The Bee Hive is a collective of 17th and 18th century buildings Elk Creeks Preservation Society is working to restore and preserve.
