Historic Charlestown: Deed History with Interactive Map

Wednesday, June 20, 2018 - 7:30pm

Location: Phoenixville Federal Bank and Trust Company, 564 Nutt Street in Phoenixville

Join the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area at our quarterly meeting for a walk through time in Charlestown Township. Learn about deed history research, the early history of Pennsylvania, and the creation of Charlestown Township. Then enjoy a demonstration of interactive maps showing Charlestown properties and buildings, which includes what is now Schuylkill Township and Phoenixville Borough, at various times in the 1700s.

Light refreshments will be served following the presentation. The meeting is free and is open to Society members and the general public.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Mike Bertram

Mike started local history research when he lived on Valley Forge Mountain. During that time he presented and published a number of articles in the Tredyffrin Easttown Historical Society Quarterly. In 2010, he moved to Adams County (near Gettysburg), but he continued his research on Chester County. He has created deed histories for 18th century Tredyffrin, Easttown Township, and Charlestown, and has published them by the means of a set of interactive maps.
