Singing Bowl Defined: These instruments are also known as Tibetan Singing Bowls, rin gongs, Himalayan bowls, and suzu gongs. These bowls are capable of producing multiple frequencies and audible harmonic overtones. This is what gives these instruments their unique sounds.

We can find singing bowls used worldwide in multiple arenas of meditation, music, relaxation, and personal well-being. Historically these bowls were made throughout Asia, mainly in Nepal, China, and Japan. Today they are produced in Nepal, India, Japan, China, and Korea.

Topics We Shall Address

Singing Bowl Anatomy (what to look for): Is my bowl machined? Is it one type of metal? How can I tell? What’s the difference between machined and handcrafted? What impact does a one metal bowl have in relation to a multiple metal bowl? What am I looking for in a Singing Bowl?

Singing Bowl Fundamentals/Playing/Intention(s): Here we shall discuss playing methods – singing/striking and the intentions behind the “Why?” And “Whose WILL is it MINE or the Bowls?” We will address the issue of chattering bowls and what we’re pushing for versus giving permission/acceptance.

Mallets – the “do’s and don’ts): Mallets play a vital role in what we are asking from our bowls. Some mallets elicit certain sounds, sound quality, and vibration/frequency. Other mallets are meant strictly for striking while others are meant for singing – and then there are those mallets that we do not strike with!

Singing Bowls and Chakras: Each bowl corresponds to a particular chakra and yet they speak to other chakras’ or energy points in the body. Here we shall discuss “Why?” and “Is it okay for a particular bowl to speak to a different chakra?” And lastly, “What are you asking the bowl to do for you?”

Choosing a Singing Bowl or is it choosing YOU? These ancient and modern bowls speak to us in so many ways on so many levels. Here we will explore what end of the choosing process are we on, why, and purpose.

Choosing your Singing Bowl: Welcoming a divinely inspired Singing Bowl into your home. life, and circle of wellness.

Practical Application

A Time to PLAY! Here’s where we shall put all of what we discussed into motion and sound. During this time we will play/sing our bowls (eyes open/closed) so we are better able to experience the moment free from visual and mental control.
