Pruning Field Day

Learn the Hows and Whys at this informative class

Caring for fruit trees means that you also have to prune them. But how do you know what to cut off? If you have a backyard orchard (or just a tree or two) and want to brush up on your pruning skills, come out to the farm to learn the basics from our resident expert, Farmer Ike. Come with your questions! Ike will be giving demonstrations on how (and why) to make those crucial cutting decisions on apple, pear, peach, and plum trees, as well as grapevines. Attendees will receive a handout of resources including a list of tools and where to buy them as well as organizations and books you can turn to for further reference. This Field Day is suitable for interested adults and teens (children will likely be bored), and costs $25 per person. We'll limit to 20 total attendees so everyone can get up close and personal to the trees in question. You need not be a fruit grower to enjoy this session, but if you are, it’ll be mighty helpful for your backyard fruit-growing efforts!
