Washington Memorial Chapel To Celebrate The Sounds of Christmas
Grammy-Award Winning Organist Paul Jacobs To Lead Choir During Mass Followed By Outdoor Carillon Concert
The spirit of the holidays will be in full swing this Sunday, December 18 at The Washington Memorial Chapel as it hosts two special Christmas events. At 4 PM, Grammy-Award Winning Organist and Chair of Juilliard School’s Organ Department Paul Jacobs will lead the Chapel’s choir in a service that includes lessons and carols, which will be open to the public.
Jacobs, who attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, served as the organist at The Washington Memorial Chapel for many years and returns frequently to perform with the Chapel’s choir.
Later that evening, Doug Gefvert, Chapel carillonneur, will lead “Caroling at the Carillon” starting at 7 PM on the 58-bell National Memorial Carillon. This free, outdoor event takes place in the courtyard in front of the Chapel, so guests are encouraged to dress warmly.
The Washington Memorial Chapel is located on Route 23 in Valley Forge Park. For more information, please visit http://wmchapel.org.
