Christmas at the Ironmaster's

Historic Poole Forge celebrates the holiday season with “Christmas at the Ironmasters”. The 18th century Ironmaster’s mansion, Paymaster’s ground floor and 1859 covered bridge will all ignite the imagination and inspire holiday spirit when local non-profit organizations and businesses decorate holiday trees and settings for display. The West Tenant House offers homemade holiday refreshments to Christmas show guests. In addition to our store, we will have a variety of unique and talented craft vendors and a Chinese Auction for a wide variety of donated items that may help guests with their Christmas shopping lists. Good natured competition will be in the air when organizations vie for the coveted “People’s Choice” Award”. This year, guests will vote for the most artistic, traditional and unique displays. Please visit www.HistoricPooleForge.org for more information about participating designers. “Christmas at the Ironmasters” is open on Fridays, Dec. 2nd & 9th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. for self-guided illuminated tours. On Saturdays, December 3rd & 10th the show is open from 12:00-8:00 p.m. and Sundays, December 4th & 11th from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 per person, with children 12 years of age and under admitted for free. On Saturday evenings, join us in celebrating with a traditional Welsh bonfire. Sundays, come with the family for photos with Santa in his sleigh. Brand new this year, we will have on display, a Brewster Exhibition sleigh made for the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. The sleigh was built with, Neptune, God of the Sea as its reference with a vermillion painted shell on the backs of four dolphins and gold leaf trident's holding the lines from the horses to the driver. Brewster & Co. had a reputation of being the finest of carriage makers and their carriages are still a sought after by carriage collectors today. The Brewster & Co Drawing is numbered and recorded at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Also new this year, are the extensive renovations that have been occurring over the past few years. The mansion is slowly but surely being returned to her original glory. Come stroll though the charming park, decorated in its holiday best, sample fresh holiday goodies, and enjoy the lovely decorated trees! There is no better way to celebrate the season with friends and family and join in the merriment.
