Uncle Irvin: Single dissenter blocks progress

02/28/2017 10:23AM ● By Richard Gaw
Uncle Irvin has learned that the major obstruction to the $2.3 million enhancement of the intersection of Route 796 and West Baltimore Pike is Beiler Campbell, Inc., owners of the only vacant corner at the intersection.
The Beiler Campbell spokesman is Ben Beiler, founder of the Beiler Campbell Real Estate Agency. According to sources close to the situation, all other owners of the four  corners -- including Penn Township, owner of the restored Red Rose Inn -- are ready to contribute their fair shares to get the intersection, one of the worst in the area, rebuilt by PennDOT.
Beiler Campbell has owned the corner parcel for at least ten years, and is reportedly stalling on making their fair share commitment, holding up the entire project and inhibiting major expansion of commercial development.
