Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan announced the arrest of Carolyn Howett, a nurse at the Pocopson Home. Howett is being charged with stealing morphine and other drugs from the facility. The drugs were marked as destroyed by the defendant, but the police later located these drugs in Howett’s home. The drugs still had unique identification from Pocopson Home when they were recovered from Howett’s home.

Howett is a 36-year-old resident of Coatesville. She is facing charges of theft, acquisition of controlled substances by fraud, forgery, and related offenses. She was arrested by Chester County Detectives on July 28.

According to information released by the District Attorney’s office, Howett had been employed by Pocopson Nursing Home for 15 years. In 2015, administrators at the Pocopson Home began to notice that morphine and other drugs were missing. The Chester County Detectives were called in to investigate.

After an initial investigation, a search warrant of Howett’s home was executed, and law enforcement officials found a vial of morphine, 26 zolpidem pills, and other drug-related materials in Howett’s home.
