Put your old bikes and accessories to good use

06/18/2015 11:41AM ● By J. Chambless

On Saturday, June 20 from 1 to 4 p.m., Mala Galleria (206 E. State St., Kennett Square) will be a collection site for your unneeded bicycles and bike accessories.   Donations of your old and unused bicycles might be given away to adults in need of transportation but unable to afford a bicycle, or they might be used for an Earn-A-Bike program, in which area youth learn mechanics and refurbish a used bike, which they keep for free at the end. If your bicycle donation for one of the programs isn't used, it will be recycled and sold at an affordable price to generate income to support other programs. The greatest need is mountain bikes and hybrids of any size, but donations of any type of bicycle in any condition are welcome.  The Urban Bike Project is a 501(c)(3) corporation.  Leave your name and email address with the bicycle donation, and Urban Bike Project will get the tax deductible receipts mailed to you. Call 202-591-6548 for more information.
