She was a team captain at Sanford and during her career, she claimed All-State and First-Team All-Conference honors. She was the recipient of the Bennaton Field Hockey Trophy (Coaches' Award) and also claimed Blue and Gold All-Star honors," the announcement said.
Mendell committed to Providence in November 2014. Madl was an Olympic field hockey player.
"We are anxiously anticipating the arrival of this class to campus," Madl said in the announcement. "They are a highly talented class, with so much to offer both on and off the field. Their blend of personalities along with their high character and leadership qualities are going to fit in very nicely in the Providence College community. They bring a wealth of success and competitiveness that will contribute substantially to our program's goals. We are excited to call them Friars."
According to an article about the announcement, the Providence College field hockey team finished the 2014 season with an 11-9 mark and qualified for the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, where it fell in the semifinals to eventual Division I NCAA National Champion, Connecticut, 3-1.
"The Friars return 14 letter winners to the squad in 2015, including seven members of the starting line-up. The team is scheduled to open the 2015 season at Boston College on August 28."
