Franklin Township Board of Supervisors reorganizes for 2015

The Franklin Township Board of Supervisors met on Jan. 5 to reorganize for the coming year, and unanimously approved several appointments and reappointments.

John Auerbach was re-elected as board chairman. David Snyder was re-elected vice-chairman.

The following were appointed as officials, engineers and consultants: Joan McVaugh as Township Manager; Joan McVaugh as Township Treasurer; Sharon Norris as Township Secretary; Lamb McErlane as Township Solicitor; LTL Consultants as Township General Engineer; URS Corporation as Township Sanitary Engineer; Tetrahedron Consultants Inc. as Township Hydrogeologist; McCormick Taylor as Township General Engineer; Brandywine Conservancy as Township Planner; Thomas Comitta Associates as Township Planner; LTL Consultants as Township Building Inspector/Zoning Officer and Code Enforcement Officer. Barbacane Thornton was appointed as the Township Auditor.

Mark Harris, a longtime member of the Planning Commission, was reappointed to another four-year term, to expire at the end of 2018. Harold Walls was reappointed to a one-year term as the Emergency Management Coordinator.

Debbie Hinderer was reappointed to a three-year term on the Zoning Hearing Board. The board members discussed Hinderer’s expected move out of the township in June and finding a resident to fill the vacancy. Auerbach moved to reappoint Dave Francis to a three-year term as an alternate on the Zoning Hearing Board, to expire at the end of 2017. The board members discussed Francis taking over Hinderer’s role on the board, and finding a replacement for his alternate position.

Auerbach reappointed Ralph Olivier to a five-year term on the Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board. Rudy Arnold was appointed to a five-year term on the UCC Appeals Board .

The 2015 meeting schedule was also approved. Board of Supervisors meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of every month and, if necessary, on the second Wednesday of every month, beginning at 7 p.m. Planning Commission meetings will be held on the first Thursday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. Historical Commission meetings will be held the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. Historical Architectural Review Board meetings will be held the first Wednesday of each month after the Historical Commission meetings.
