The Kennett School Board reelected Heather Schaen as its president during the reorganization meeting on Monday, Dec. 1.

Board member Rudy Alfonso nominated Schaen to serve as president for 2015. There were no other nominations for the position from the nine school board members. The board then voted unanimously to return Schaen to the leadership post for the third time in four years.

Schaen thanked her colleagues for the support and said that it was a pleasure to serve alongside them.

Schaen is entering her tenth year as a school board member representing the district's Region C, which includes Kennett Township and East Marlborough Township.

The board also unanimously selected Kendra LaCosta to serve as the board’s vice president. LaCosta is entering her second year on the board after being elected to a first term in November of 2013. She represents the district's Region B, which is comprised of New Garden Township.

The Kennett School Board also established its meeting dates for 2015. The board meets on the second Monday of the month. Meetings will take place on Jan. 12 (at the Bancroft Elementary School), Feb. 9 (Mary D. Lang), March 9 (District Office), April 13 (District Office), May 11 (Kennett Middle School), June 8 (District Office), July 13 (District Office), Sept. 14 (Kennett High School), Oct. 12 (Greenwood Elementary), Nov. 9 (New Garden Elementary), and Dec. 7 (District Office).

When the board meets again in January, budget discussions for the 2015-16 school year will increase.
