Support Schott on Election Day

Letter to the Editor:

It is a good thing to be well-educated. It is a good thing to be in a safe, nurturing community that supports all of its citizens. It is a better thing to be in a community that says “yes” to these two statements and does something about it by voting for Ann Schott. Ann is on the ballot for state representative in eastern Lancaster and western Chester counties.

I have known Ann Schott since her daughter was in my first grade classroom 25 years ago. Our husbands were colleagues in Avon Grove High School. For 30 years, Ann was a respected social studies teacher in the Unionville School District. I can attest to her passion for education, which would serve us well in the state legislature, where we need more teachers who are aware that well-educated young people make decisions that keep a society safer and economically viable.

The current state representative in the 13th District has not addressed the critical issues in our community.  Ann Schott would work to reduce property taxes through a fair school funding formula, galvanize small business and advocacy groups to help in the effort to close corporate tax loopholes, stand up for a fair natural gas extraction tax, and prioritize education in state budget decisions.

Please join me in voting for Ann Schott.
