Schott for schools

Letter to the Editor:

John Lawrence has been sending out postcards, touting his supposed support for public schools.  He neglected to point out all his votes to cut nearly $1 billion in education funding since 2011.

Education builds our community and a better society in which to live.  A good education system helps students develop into more responsible citizens, who, in turn, bring about a brighter future for everyone.  We need to increase funding for education, not cut it.  When the state does its part in school funding, we get higher quality education and lower property taxes.

Ann Schott is the best candidate to fight for our schools.  She has been a teacher for three decades, educating thousands of area students, and has been a proud member of the community.  She will work in Harrisburg to restore education funding without increasing taxes by asking natural gas drillers to finally pay their fair share.  And she'll push back on the special interests that seem to have taken over the agenda in Harrisburg.

Please join me in voting for Ann Schott on Nov. 4.
