Bomb threat found at elementary school

According to township Police Chief Albert J. McCarthy, an employee at the school found a note in the restroom of the elementary school that indicating a threat to “blow up” the school.

The school was immediately evacuated. The Chester County Sheriff's Department brought in bomb-trained dogs to perform a sweep of the school grounds. After a search of both the inside and outside, police did not find any kind of dangerous device. The incident remains under investigation by authorities.

Students and staff were given food, water and restrooms during the sweep of the school. Longwood and Kennett Square EMS provided medical resources to students and staff during the evacuation. The school returned to session after the incident.

During the investigation, the police also received assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police, Kennett Square Borough Police and the Longwood Fire Department.
