Erin Matson, a freshman forward for the Unionville girls field hockey team, was named national player of the week in September by MAX Field Hockey, a nationally-recognized, on-line data base for field hockey teams, players and leagues.

Matson was recognized for her 9 goals and 6 assists through Unionville's first six games, helping the team to a 5-1 start, which included one goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over West Chester Henderson on Sept. 9; three goals and four assists in a 7-0 win over Kennett on Sept. 11; and a game-winning assist in a 3-2 victory over Conestoga on Sept. 13.

The Indians are currently 10-1 and stand atop the Southern Chester County National Field Hockey standings.
