DOMESTIC ASSAULT

On Sept. 10 at 1 a.m., New Garden Township Police responded to a fight between a husband and wife in the 200 block of New Garden Road. The victim told police that her husband, Alberto Chavez-Lopez, 32, of Toughkenamon, picked her up in Kennett Square and was angry about a trip she was planning to take for work. He accused her of cheating and searched through her phone. He then choked the victim, pulled her by the hair onto the floor and kicked her in the head. The victim called 911 and Chavez-Lopez threatened to kill her for calling the police. Police blocked his exit and arrested him without incident. He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and making terroristic threats. He was arraigned and remanded to Chester County Prison on $25,000 cash bail.

CRASH LEADS TO ARREST

On Sept. 11 at 6:15 p.m., New Garden Township Police responded to a one-car crash with injuries in the 300 block of Bucktoe Road. Witnesses told police that two men ran from the car after it crashed. An unconscious, injured man was found in the Nissan Xterra, which had hit a utility pole. He was taken to Christiana Hospital. At 9:50 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance involving the car's owner, Uriel Ortiz-Perez, 25, of Avondale. He admitted that he fled the scene of the crash after seeing the passenger was unconscious. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury, reckless endangering, reckeless driving, and failing to give information and aid. He was arraigned and remanded to Chester County Prison on $5,000 cash bail.

BURGALRIES

Overnight on Sept. 18, a detached garage at a home in the 200 block of Reedville Road in Lower Oxford Township was burglarized. Power tools were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call trooper Mantione at Pennsylvania State Police Avondale (610-268-2022).

Also overnight on Sept. 18, a garage at a home at 22 Meadowood Drive in Londonderry Township was entered, and someone stole a purse containing about $60 and credit cards from an unlocked vehicle inside.

STUDENT DRUG ARREST

On Sept. 12, New Garden Police responded to the 100 block of Sunnydell Road for a report of illegal narcotics found on a student. The school staff said other students alerted them to the marijuana possessed by a 13-year-old student. The student, who lives in Toughkenamon, was suspended from school and released to his mother pending contact with the Juvenile Probation Department.

HIT AND RUN

On Sept. 2 at 9:05 p.m., a car driving south on Gap Newport Pike in London Grove Township struck another car traveling south on the roadway, then drove off the road and struck a porch at 61 Gap Newport Pike. The car was then driven away. According to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Avondale, the car that was struck, driven by a 45-year-old Avondale woman, had damage to the rear left fender but could be driven from the scene. The driver was not injured.

DUI

On Sept. 19 at 1:30 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police Avondale responded to a report of a car that had run off the road into shrubbery on Chesterville Road in Elk Township. When they arrived, officers found that the driver, Collin Alexander McIlvried, 22, of Landenberg, was DUI. He was arrested. Anyone with more information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested Jorge Sanchez-Rodriguez, 28, of Kennett Square, for DUI after a traffic stop on Millers Hill Road in Kennett Township on Sept. 13 at 2:43 a.m.

Patricia Ann Seningen, 43, of Landenberg, was arrested for DUI by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale after a traffic stop on Sept. 14 at 12:27 a.m. on Indiantown Road, south of Flint Hill Road.
