The seventh annual Pocopson Township Founders Day will be held on Sept. 28 in Pocopson Park (477 Locust Grove Rd.). The theme of the festival, which runs from noon to 4 p.m., is patriotism. Visitors are asked to display their “patriotic best.”

According to event chairwoman Colleen McKinney, “This year, we have added a number of new activities that will please both parents and kids. The event is aimed at bringing neighbors together for a casual, relaxed, fun-filled day out.”

In addition to games for kids, there will be a petting zoo, a doughnut-eating contest with some local celebrities, and a raffle. New to the event is “Bingo Under the Tent,” and the Radnor Hunt Club is returning this year.  Music will be provided by Josh Komorowski & Sons of Thunder. Food from the Purple Picnic People and Lenape Pizza will be for sale. The Brandywine Vintage Baseball team will play a game according to 1800s rules. State Sen. Dominic Pileggi will visit, and representatives from the Locust Grove School House will discuss the restoration of the building.

Local artisans and vendors include Bailey’s Farm, Bruno Bites, the Brandywine Valley Association, Karing Kids, Three Sisters Soaps, Nean Bean Crafts, Sweet Salvation Truffles, Cari Orthodontics, Carolyn Chambers Jewelry, Purple Daisy, Sandy’s Stitches,  Amazing Time Photobooths, McKinney Landscaping, Thomas Mallon Allstate Insurance, Best Dressed Tomboy, 31 Bags, Arbonne and others.
