Rep. Stephen Barrar (R-Delaware/Chester) has announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2014-15 Fire Company, Volunteer Ambulance Services Grant Program. All fire companies, volunteer ambulance services and volunteer rescue squads are eligible to apply.

Grants may be used for facilities, equipment, debt reduction and/or training. Applicants may apply online for grants in up to two of these categories. Grant awards range from $2,500 to $15,000 for fire companies and $2,500 to $10,000 for volunteer ambulance services.

“As chairman of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, I understand how critical these grants are to our emergency services providers and Pennsylvania citizens,” said Barrar.  “The grants enable our firefighters and volunteer ambulance and rescue companies to obtain the tools they need to ensure our safety and well-being.”

The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m.  Interested organizations are urged to apply early to allow ample time for applications to be processed.
