Visit the days of steam at Auburn Heights

The Marshall Steam Museum at Auburn Heights in Yorklyn, Del., will hold its September Steamin' Day on Sept. 28.

The day features train rides in scaled locomotives and rides in historic automobiles. Families can bring a picnic. There will be free popcorn made in a vintage popper, a demonstration of firing up a Stanley automobile, and tours of the Marshall Steam Museum, featuring the world’s largest operating collection of Stanley steam cars plus a 1930s working Lionel electric trains display, a hands-on engine display, kids activities and exhibits. Tours of the antique-furnished Auburn Heights mansion, which dates to 1897, are also available, along with rides on the Auburn Valley Railroad and in antique automobiles from the Marshall Collection.

A Rides Ticket includes four rides in the antique autos or Auburn Valley Railroad: $11 for ages 13 and older, $8 for ages 12 and younger (infants free).

A Mansion Ticket includes tour of two floors of Auburn Heights: $12 for all ages.

A Combo Ticket includes rides and the mansion: $19 for ages 13 and older, $16 for ages 12 and younger (infants free).

The Marshall Steam Museum is at 3000 Creek Rd. (Route 82) in Yorklyn, Del.
