The 4th annual “Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!” event is expected to draw about 2,000 people to Anson B. Nixon Park on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“This is a wonderful event each year, and it is growing in attendance,” said Margarita Queralt Mirkil, president and chief executive officer of La Comunidad Hispana (LCH). “You can’t beat free family fun that promotes healthy living.”

The family activities will include live music and dance performances, pony rides and bounce houses, sports clinics, a health walk, and juggling and Zumba sessions. There will also be health screenings, free flu shots, community and health education tables, healthy snacks and the second annual fresh salsa tasting contest.

A raffle will also be held for all attendees who fill out an event program passport by visiting sponsor and exhibitor tables. Raffle prizes include free annual YMCA memberships, tickets to the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, gift certificates to local restaurants, retail, and entertainment such as Boomers Family Fun Center and Oasis. Those who pre-register before Sept. 12 will be entered into a grand prize drawing for bikes and helmets for a family of four, valued at more than $2,000. To pre-register, visit the reception desk at La Comunidad Hispana (731 W. Cypress St., Kennett Square) or visit  www.lacomunidadhispana.org.

La Comunidad Hispana was established in 1973 as a community-based nonprofit organization to help low-income residents of southern Chester County to stay healthy, build strong families and lead productive lives by providing high-quality, culturally welcoming services.

The event will be held rain or shine. The national sponsor is the National Alliance for Hispanic Health. The local partners are LCH, the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley and the Mexican Consulate.

“We have excellent community support,” Mirkil said. “Along with our partner organizations, our three platinum sponsors -- Chester County Food Bank, Christiana Health Care Systems, and Giant Foods – are providing essential contributions to the event.”

Silver sponsors include Advantage Building and Facility Services; Aetna; Chester County Hospital and Health System; The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Comcast; Longwood Gardens; Mushroom Farmers of Pennsylvania; Fulton Bank; and Pennsylvania Hispano Magazine.  Bronze sponsors include El Compadre; Countryside Consulting, Inc.; DNB First; Herr’s; Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith, P.C.; Hogan & Vandenberg, LLC; National Penn Bank; and Pegasus Technologies.

Fifty information tables will be tended by businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to raise awareness and provide information about community resources.
