Zach Trexler and Megan Wittman were in a life-altering car accident last winter. As the teens, who attended Avon Grove High School, work to recover from their serious injuries, friends are rallying to support them. A benefit concert is being held on Friday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. to raise money to help the families with medical bills.

Kyle Fisher, a resident of Landenberg, is helping to organize the concert. He is a 2014 graduate of Avon Grove High School. Trexler and Wittman would have graduated from the same class were it not for the lingering injuries.

According to Fisher, Trexler and Wittman both suffered serious trauma to the brain and were in grave condition in the aftermath of the accident. They were hospitalized and went through months of rehabilitation and care before being able to return to their homes. Wittman is currently showing signs of significant improvement. Trexler still requires in-house care daily and is still not able to walk or talk.

A host of people involved in the local music scene are banding together to organize the benefit concert, including Project Unity Productions Harry Mazzio and Lisa Bevilacqua, CI Records’ Spencer Carpenter. The Carousel Kings, who are signed to CI Records, are headlining the show, and regional acts from as far away as lower Delaware and New Jersey are joining the bill. Acts include Fisher’s band, Entropy, The Stellar Life, Endless Sacrifice, Pines, Under the Radar, and We Are Not.

Fisher said that Zach is not only a neighbor but a friend, and he is hoping that the benefit will help the two families.

“I am hoping that through the benefit we can raise money for their families to help pay their crazy high medical bills,” he said. “I feel it is the least we as a community can do to help them.”

Admission for the concert is $10, and tickets can be purchased online or at the event.

The Zach & Megan Benefit Concert will be held at the Harmony Grange at 3205 Limestone Road in Wilmington, Del., just outside of Hockessin. More information is available by visiting http://bit.ly/ZMbenefithttp://bit.ly/ZMbenefit or by contacting Fisher at [email protected].
