Leonard Johnson III

Leonard Johnson III, son of Sylvia and Robert Amis and the late Leonard Johnson, Jr., has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

He is a graduate of Unionville High School and participated in SHOC (Students Helping Other Classmates) and UNITY (as a mentor for new students). He had been a member of the high school football team since ninth grade, playing varsity during his junior and senior years. He also played and coached in the URA basketball league. He will attend Millersville University in the fall.

Johnson began scouting at age 7 as a Cub Scout with St. Cornelius Pack 916. After earning the Arrow of Light Award, Lenny crossed over into Boy Scout Troop 22 in 2007, led by scoutmaster John McCabe. He earned 44 merit badges, and his community service includes Pocopson Founders Day, Red Clay Cleanup, and the Unionville Community Fair. His favorite service was the Kennett Food Cupboard, where he volunteered with both his troop and school history class.

For his Eagle project, Johnson constructed a lakeside public bird blind for the benefit of Locust Lake Village in the Pocono Mountains. This allows members of the community to have a protected view and photograph the numerous species of birds in the area. Lenny planned, solicited donations, secured materials, and coordinated the building and placement of the bird blind. The project included 318 volunteer hours.
