St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Oxford has received a grant of $3,611.74 from the Katherine R. and Clyde P. Alexander Fund of the Philadelphia Foundation.

Announcement of the grant was made by R. Andrew Swinney, president of the foundation, whose board of managers approved the grant on June 12.

Dr. Rev. Mary Ann Mertz, the rector of St. Christopher's, said the funds will be used for outreach, youth ministry, public services and general operations support.

Clyde Alexander was born and raised in Oxford. He owned and operated a grocery store in the borough. In 1909, he married Katherine Bicking. They never had any children, and Mrs. Alexander died in 1954. Upon Mr. Alexander's death in 1966, he set up a memorial trust in honor of his wife.

This fund has allocated money to six health and civic agencies in Oxford, as well as nine then-existing churches, every year since 1967.
