The value of giving back emerges from the sawdust at Penn’s Grove

The Sawdust Service Club at Penn’s Grove Middle School recently donated wooden walking ducks to the Lighthouse Youth Center as part of its community outreach initiative. The ducks were part of a project where students (from left) Ian Wright, Will Chester, Alexis Villagomez and Tyler Barron designed, built and painted wooden toys over the course of the school year. Aside from learning woodworking skills, the students developed team-building skills and learned the value of giving to others without expecting anything in return. The students are pictured with Lighthouse volunteer representative Amy Perkins and faculty mentors (from left) Al Schaefer, Chris Riess, Mark James and Duffy Sample.
