07/02/2014 11:19AM ● By Acl

Eric Wight, the award-winning author and illustrator of the popular Frankie Pickle series of children's books, recently spent a day at Nottingham Elementary School. During several grade level assemblies, Wight discussed how his books are created, from rough sketch to printed page. He also talked about how his interest in drawing while in elementary school led to his taking art courses and eventually being chosen to train as an animator for Walt Disney Studios. Wight introduced a new character, Jiminy Sprinkles, a cupcake who will be featured in a short story that will appear in an anthology of work by top author/illustrators to be released this summer. He is pictured with librarian Kristina Johns and fourth graders, from left, Jordan Kane, Kileen Pearse, Sean Poole, Christian Schwendner, Phillip Martin, Kiersten Martin and Makayla Miller.
