Brandywne Valley Girl Scout service unit wins awards

The Brandywine Valley Girl Scout service unit, which serves the Chadds Ford-Unionville and Kennett Consolidated school districts, has been awarded the Presidents Award for outstanding service to the 700 registered Girl Scouts it serves.
In addition, volunteer adult Girl Scouts,who serve on the management team, won the highest honors given by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. Karen D'Agusto, the volunteer service unit manager, won the Diversity Award for outstanding efforts in promoting inclusiveness and pluralism in Scout programming. Lori Sullivan was presented with the GSUSA Honor Pin for her outstanding programming opportunities (Brownie Bash, Junior Bonanza, Daisy Day, Renaissance Fair, gymnastics, Dance, Gals and Pals) which are offered to the service units throughout Chester County. Sullivan's programs attract Girl Scouts from Delaware, Philadelphia and Bucks County, as well as Delaware and Maryland.
Also receiving the GSUSA Honor Pin was Michal Rittler who offers programming through Gals and Pals and High School Weekends at Tweedale. She also initiated and runs Operation Cookie Drop that provides more than 5,000 boxes of cookies to military personnel overseas.
A GSUSA Appreciation Pin was awarded to Rosalee Wortmann for her work in recruiting, training and public relations, Kerrie Garrison for her work in communications and programming, and Donna Brown for her continued efforts in the Paradise Camping Weekend.
The GSEP Super Service Unit Award was presented to Rachel Brunke and Lorie Pye. Brunke led the service unit in a successful cookie sale, and Pye led the service unit's effort to establish "best practices" in leader training and develop strategies for high-performing troops.
