McKenna Coyle, a member of Kennett High School’s Class of 2014, has been named to U.S. Lacrosse Philadelphia region girls' All-American team.

A U.S. Lacrosse All-American is a player who exhibits superior skills and techniques and possesses exceptional game sense and knowledge. “Goalies are often the unsung heroes on a team,” McKenna said. “I am proud and excited to accept this broader recognition.”

McKenna will play lacrosse for Division I Penn State University, where she will major in marketing. In addition to playing lacrosse since seventh grade, she has played on Kennett High School’s volleyball team for four years (one year on the junior varsity team; three years as a varsity player), and Kennett High School’s varsity basketball team during her freshman and sophomore years.

As the goalie of Kennett High School’s lacrosse team, McKenna was named to the 2011 Ches-Mont League Third Team; 2012 Kennett High School Lacrosse MVP; 2012 Ches-Mont League First Team; 2013 U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American Honorable Mention; 2013 U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American.  She was also named to the 2011 Philly 2 National Tournament Team, the 2011 Philly Under Armour High School All-Star Team, the 2012 Philly 1 National Tournament Team, and the 2013 Philly National Tournament Team.

McKenna was also a member of a PA Express club team.

She is grateful for the guidance that Coach Watkins provided her in helping to achieve this athletic status.

“Coach Watkins was gracious enough to nominate me for this prestigious honor,” McKenna said. “His coaching philosophy has helped to make me a better player.”

Off the field, McKenna was member of the National Honor Society.
