Meeting to discuss efforts to stop homelessness

06/18/2014 10:17AM ● By Acl

The community is invited to a meeting on Wednesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. at Church of the Advent, 401 North Union Street, Kennett Square, to hear about how congregations in Chester County are networking to provide overnight accommodations, meals, and compassionate assistance to those families experiencing homelessness in the area.

Homelessness is a growing problem in the community. In 2013, 284 children experienced homelessness in the Southern Chester County area. Many of the families experiencing homelessness are caught between high housing costs and low wages.  The demands placed upon shelters in Chester County are increasing.  There is a way local congregations and other community organizations can help. The meeting will include discussions about how improvements can be made.
