Family programs at White Clay Creek State Park

White Clay Creek State Park will be the site of a series of programs this summer. 

Through Sept. 1, the Carpenter Recreation Area (880 New London Rd., Newark, Del.) will be the site of a concert series. Shows start at 6:30 p.m. Visitors can bring a picnic and their own seating. Water ice will be sold. The concerts are free with park admission. The schedule includes: the Newark Community Band in a program of marches, showtunes and light classics (June 11); bluegrass by Boulevard Express (June 18); Oh Boy: A Tribute to Buddy Holly (June 25). Full Moon Friday Hikes will be held on the Friday on or before the full moon at 8 p.m. Hikes begin at the Nature Center at White Clay Creek State Park. The cost is $5 per person. The June hike will be held on June 13. Call the park office to register (302-368-6900).

“Creekin for Critters at Carpenter” will be held June 21 at 10 a.m. Participants hike along fields and in the forest at Carpenter Recreation Area to a creek at the bottom of the hill to dip-net for critters. Call the park office to register (302-368-6900).

A family campfire will be offered on June 28 at 7 p.m. Bring treats to roast. The nature center will be open and an attendant will keep the fire going. Call the park office to register (302-368-6900).
